Microsoft Platform SDK (Windows XP SP2) is a legacy Windows software development kit that provides the headers, libraries, documentation, samples, and command-line tools needed to build native Win32 applications and services targeting Windows XP Service Pack 2 and Windows Server 2003. It covers core Windows APIs such as COM, RPC, networking, security, shell, GDI/user interface, and multimedia, and integrates with era-appropriate versions of Visual Studio or can be used from the command line. Intended for maintaining and compiling software for XP SP2–era systems, it enables creation of 32-bit—and, where supported, 64-bit—binaries with tooling like the resource compiler, MIDL, and related utilities. Note: This SDK has been superseded by newer Windows SDKs for modern versions of Windows.
